The long lines that typically greet last-minute filers at the Midway Post Office on April 15 can be avoided altogether this year. And even better, taxpayers can completely dodge the cost of postage for mailing in their prepared tax statements. PostalAnnex+ will offer a free service called "Many Happy Returns," which provides free postage on sealed envelopes containing state and federal tax-return forms. PostalAnnex+ staff will weigh, stamp and deliver the parcels, which can be dropped off in special "baskets" at the IPayOne Arena parking lot on Sports Arena Boulevard between 5 and 9 p.m., on April 15. "Because it is one of the most stressful mailing days of the year, we want to lessen the hassle for those who wait until the last day to mail in their returns," says Steve Goble, owner of the PostalAnnex in Rancho San Diego. He adds that customers won't have to bother figuring out how much postage should go on their envelopes. "We will take care of it ? and make sure the returns are sent out by midnight." The promotion does not apply to certified mailings. Goble and other franchisees are available to discuss the exorbitant volume of tax returns that are processed through the mail system on April 15 each year - and will allow media to conduct interviews inside the stores before or during the promotion.
