Kampgrounds of America will be offering campers across North America an absolutely FREE night of camping on Friday, May 12, 2006 as part of their third annual KOA Come Camp With Us Day event. In 2005, more than 350 participating KOA Campgrounds in the United States and Canada offered more than 40,000 FREE tent and RV sites and Kamping Kabins for this special day, and KOA is hoping for another successful event for 2006. “Come Camp With Us Day is quickly becoming a recognized event as more than 15,000 families showed up in 2005 to help us kick start the camping season,” said KOA President and CEO Jim Rogers. “We are very excited to do it again, and love offering new campers a chance to try out the KOA camping lifestyle. It also allows us a chance to say thank you and show our appreciation to our existing customers by offering this free day!” Many participating KOA’s will be offering special events during the May 12-14 weekend, including fun ice cream socials and other family activities. There will also be opportunities for campers to give free-will donations to KOA Care Camps for children with cancer. The 34 camps are located throughout the U.S. and give children with cancer the chance to experience a genuine summer camping experience while continuing their medical treatments. Last year, more than $40,000 was raised during Come Camp With Us Day to benefit Care Camps.
