Under Susan Hartley's leadership as President of Women Business Owners, WBO held its inaugural "Camp Entrepreneur", a week-long camp for thirty girls ages 15-17 interested in pursuing entrepreneurship as a career. The Camp received national recognition in an article published by "Business News" and was featured with General Colin Powell, chairman of "America's Promise-The Alliance for Youth." "Twice a year we do a career day for at-risk girls on the 15 professions most often chosen by girls." Explaining that this gets followed up with a mentoring program and on-site career days, Hartley adds, "We serve as role models for these girls; we give them hope and encourage them to be self-sufficient." The camp was so successful it has been conducted each year and with an increasing number of participants. Camp Entrepreneur is sponsored by The Weaver Foundation (NFL Jaguar owners Wayne and Delores Weaver) and JM Family Enterprises.
